They will be able to talk about plans they have for the future, using Present Continuous. Also, students will learn important English vocabulary about money and shopping (clothes) suitable for the A2 lower intermediate level.

PRESENTATION

1. Listen to Sara’s story and fill in the blanks.

My ………. and I are at the ………. right now. She is ………. a new ………. she wants to ………., and I am ………. for new ……….. I wonder what is ………. her so long. Ah, ………. she is. She ………. ………. very excited. When to use Present Continuous Tense?
We use Present Continuous Tense to talk about what we are doing NOW, BUT ALSO to talk about what we plan to do in the future!

PRACTICE:

1. Underline the present continuous verbs used for future.

  1. Tom is reading a book and Emma is watching TV now.
  2. I am buying a new handbag next week.
  3. Are you renting the bike tomorrow or not?
  4. I am paying the phone bill.

2. Put the words in brackets in Present Continuous.

Example: Tony (goes) to the store to buy some clothes. = Tony is going to the store to buy some clothes. 

  1. We (buy) a new car next week.
  2.  Tom and Amy (rent) a house closer to Amy’s work tomorrow.
  3. I (not spend) so much money on a dress.
  4. You (not borrow) my bike, because I need it.

PRODUCTION

1. Pair Work:

Student A is going shopping on Sunday. Think about 10 things you need, and planning to buy. Student B think about 10 questions you would like to ask after hearing your friend’s shopping plans.
